A constant learner can teach others,not the one who left learning and pursues earning.Now how many of us have reading /thinking habit.Curiosity is vital for the learner as well as teacher.Only the curious mind can understand things. Pseudo intellectuals who dominate the world with their half baked ideas will create a quarter backed individuals.Every child is adaptable and able to learn,but our social creation which leaves no stones turned in promoting a society where all those so called educated ,created a stage where only pomp and shows dominate and provide a wrong role model to the young minds.If genuinely we need a learned society then we need genuine human minds to show the way.Where we can find them?Who will search? again the nexus...the person who is given the responsibility should be genuine..the person who is giving the work should be genuine...When our work becomes boring,we are able to switch to other options.Compulsion,responsibilities,needs etc.dominate,but we can bring a change by convincing and not by confusing others with high end ideas. I think i am confused...till next post i will have some clarity....

POWER OF MONEY

Some of you may already know that I travel around the region pretty frequently, having to visit and conduct seminars at my offices in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Suzhou (China). I am in the airport almost every other week so I get to bump into many people who have attended my seminars or have read my books. Recently, someone came up to me on a plane to KL and looked rather shocked. He asked, 'How come a millionaire like you is traveling economy?' My reply was, 'That's why I am a millionaire.' He still looked pretty confused. This again confirms that the greatest lie ever told about wealth (which I wrote about in my latest book 'Secrets of Self-Made Millionaires'). Many people have been brainwashed to think that millionaires have to wear Gucci, Hugo Boss, Rolex, and sit on first class in air travel. This is why so many people never become rich because the moment that they earn more money, they think that it is only natural they spend more, putting them back to square one. The truth is that most self-made millionaires are frugal and only spend on what is necessary and of value. That is why they are able to accumulate and multiply their wealth so much faster. Over the last 7 years, I have saved about 80% of my income while today I save only about 60% (because I have my wife, mother-in-law, 2 maids, 2 kids, etc. to support). Still, it is way above most people who save 10% of their income (if they are lucky).

I refuse to buy a first class ticket or a $300 shirt because I think that it is a complete waste of money. However, I happily pay $1,300 to send my 2-year old daughter to Julia Gabriel Speech and Drama without thinking twice. When I joined the YEO (Young Entrepreneur's Organisation) a few years back, YEO was an exclusive club open to those who were under 40 and make over $1m a year in their own business. I discovered that those who were self-made thought like me. Many of them with net worth of well over $5m, travelled economy class and some even drove Toyota's and Nissans, not Audis, Mercs, BMWs. I noticed that it was only those who never had to work hard to build their own wealth (there were also a few ministers' and tycoons' sons in the club) who spent like there was no tomorrow. Somehow, when you did not have to build everything from scratch, you do not really value money. This is precisely the reason why a family's wealth (no matter how much) rarely lasts past the third generation. Thank God, my rich dad foresaw this terrible possibility and refused to give me a cent to start my business. Then, some people ask me, 'What is the point in making so much money if you don't enjoy it?' The thing is that I don't really find happiness in buying branded clothes, jewellery or sitting first class. Even if buying something makes me happy it is only for a while, it does not last. Material happiness never lasts, it just gives you a quick fix.

After a while you feel lousy again and have to buy the next thing which you think will make you happy. I always think that if you need material things to make you happy, then you live a pretty sad and unfulfilled life. Instead, what makes me happy is when I see my children laughing and playing and learning so fast. What makes me happy is when I see my companies and trainers reaching more and more people every year in so many more countries. What makes me really happy is when I read all the emails about how my books and seminars have touched and inspired someone's life. What makes me really happy is reading all your wonderful posts about how this blog is inspiring you. This happiness makes me feel really good for a long time, much much more than what a Rolex would do for me. I think the point I want to put across is that happiness must come from doing your life's work (be it teaching, building homes, designing, trading, winning tournaments etc.) and the money that comes is only a by-product. If you hate what you are doing and rely on the money you earn to make you happy by buying stuff, then I think that you are living a meaninglessness life.

Itwas 8.5 in its magnitude,the quake which hit the Middle Andamanduring the Tsunami causing 9.5 quake (2004 Dec.) epicentered inSumatra. Unable to stand we sat on the ground. The Earth rocked likea ship in a rough Sea. It was early morning for me,my eight monthold son was sleeping beside me,when heard the shouts of “Bhookamp”,itook my son and came out. Tremors stopped after a while and calmrestored,but someone shouted the sea is swelling”...rest ishistory..we are still alive to tell the story.

Myson who is now seven years old ,on last Sunday got confused with theEarth rattling and shaking,we came out of our house,after about 20seconds it was over. We were worried about our daughter who isstudying in a boarding school in Sikkim.(later we came to know thatthere in the hostel they watched a movie BODYGUARD and humming songs)As power went off,no mobile network..but luckily GPRS was working. I Googled for the epicentre and Magnitude(6.8) and sent a message andalert to expect aftershocks -to all those who registered with my FreeGoogle SMS channel-schoolalert-.When mobiles resumedworking...well-wishers and family members started calling. No cracksdeveloped in my residence. We slept well with two interruptingaftershocks.

Thanksto HEYMATH for providing a good UPS ,which helped me to charge mymobile phone for 4 days/(I should thank all the brands which helpedme!!)

Thedifference in these two big Eqs are not only of its Magnitude,but thedamage it caused to constructions. NO Single human life was lost inthe 2004 quake in Andamans,but the aftermath-THE TSUNAMI killedpeople in the Little Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

InAndaman &Nicobar Islands no one is permitted to build more than 3stories. Less people build stories there.

It is really easy to write a CD without having a burning software in your PC or laptop,but often people dont use this facility in Microsoft Operating system.Now follow this steps to do this:

1.Insert a blank CD on your drive
2.Select the file you want to write by write clicking> send to> CD WR/R
3.click the file waiting to be burned baloon or go to my computer>click>writer icon>burn to disc
4.follow the instructions
5.If it is 700 MB then the CD is filled or otherwise later using the same steps again, you can fill the CD
This is a good idea to write a CD because this CD can be used and written anywhere in any PC ,even if it doesnot have a burning software.

Gandhian principles are time tested for its validity around the world, it is neither a dogma nor an ideology, it is the practiced way of Gandhi. It is tough to be a satyagrahi, inner strength and freedom from fear,death,jealousy,anger,greed etc. , love ...pure love towards all existence ,Brahmacharya are expected and practiced by a Satyagrahi.Love towards the person harming you and no hatred towards him is really hard for we mortals. Honourable Chief Minister Of Sikkim, Dr. Pawan Chamling, Honourable Minister For Human Resource Development Department & Sports and Youth Affairs, Govt. Of Sikkim, Mr. N.K. Pradhan, Respected Secretary H.R.D.D. Mr. R. Telang, officers of The Department, all school heads, Teachers and everyone else present here today.

It is an honour to be present here today and represent the Association of Heads of Govt. Sec. and Sr. Sec .schools of Sikkim. Since April 2003, a group of head masters and head Mistresses of secondary school began to get together to discuss about various issues related with school and their heads.

It is believed that Teaching is a Noble Profession, but in order to make this profession a noble one, we, teachers, need to be Noble in our Thoughts and Deeds as well.

Now the Education scenario in our country has changed. It is taking a giant leap with the introduction of the concept of CONTINUOUS and COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION. We welcome this move of the Ministry Of Human Resource Development and the Central Board of Secondary Education, if it is going to bring about improvement in our children. It seems to be a very promising, enriching and self evaluating method. This C.C.E., we feel, is not only for our students but for teachers and school Heads, as well. This system of Education aims at overall development of a child, for which WE need to be well equipped. We need to do our HOME WORK---- Teachers need to prepare themselves, be informed and be vigilant round the clock. Remember, we are dealing with the children of the 21^st Century, The Age of Science and Information Technology. WE need to update and upgrade ourselves.

Of course, for the first few years, we are likely to encounter some minor problems during the implementation of C.C.E. but those are only “TEETHING PROBLEMS”, which will go as we grow in this area of Education. The concept of C.C.E. is very good. In fact, if we want to, we can work wonders with our children, trace out the talents in them, equip them, guide them and harness them. This is how we make our children SELF-Reliant. If we can’t make everyone Doctors, Engineers and Astronauts, we can make a few Kiran Bedis , M.F. Hussains and a few Bhaichung Bhutias.

Today we are worried about the policy of “No Detention”--- which has become a significant feature of the Right to Education Act, 2009. The fact is, if this system of C.C.E. is implemented with all the necessary inputs from the Department and Schools, right from standard I –XII, a time will come when we don’t have to worry about “Repeaters or Failures”.

Therefore, in this August gathering, I call upon all my fellow School heads and Teachers to put our hands, Heads and Hearts together for successful implementation of C.C.E. If we can do this, The Dream of our Honourable Chief Minister, of having Quality Education will certainly come true very soon. Sir, we are ready to work to pursue your Dream of Quality Education, creating a Self- sufficient, self – reliant and successful 100% literate Sikkim. Sikkim is the only state in our country where 20% of the budget is earmarked for Education. You have done so much for us Sir and so, we Re-Dedicate ourselves for your Mission, Vision and Goal for a better and secure Sikkim.

Today, on behalf of our Association , I take this opportunity to thank the State Govt. for providing us with such a Dynamic, intelligent, empathetic Secretary in the Department. We feel privileged to have Mr. R. Telang, as our Secretary. Under your able guidance and leadership, we are heading towards the right direction to achieve Quality Education and create a major shift in the education system. In the last one year, we have had several interactions with him. The more we interact with him, the more information and ideas we get from him, to help us in improving our schools. We have found him to be bountiful of knowledge and enthusiasm. You not only give us a patient hearing but take prompt action too. Sir, you are our source of inspiration. We hope to get more knowledge and Motivation from you in the days to come.

I would be failing my responsibility if I do not mention a very important issue here today. We are very grateful to the Govt. for providing us with the opportunity of promotion in the Department. Gazette Notification No. 127/GEN/DOP dated 24/11/2008 enables the eligible individuals from the Schools to get promotion and serve in different capacities in the Department. This Notification holds a different meaning and Hope for, especially younger and junior members of this fraternity, like us. We feel rejuvenated and energised to work for the school in general and the cause of Education in particular. It is because this Notification has made our future more secure and bright. This Notification would not have been possible without the timely intervention of our Honourable Chief Minister. We are extremely grateful to you Sir. We also acknowledge the efforts put forth by our former Secretary HRDD Mr. K.T. Chankapa for the successful implementation of the said Notification.

I would like to congratulate all the Award winners of 2010. It is very heartening to see that your hard work and dedication is being acknowledged and appreciated. May you all be successful in your future endeavours too. May you be a guiding star and a mentor to your fellow members of our teaching fraternity. We are grateful to the State Government for presenting such awards to our teachers and School Heads, as this gives us a lot of aspirations and encouragement to do better and to do more. I am sure that all of you present here, will agree with me when I say that the teachers, students and the School Head forms an integral part of the School, but a School cannot function in isolation. The H.R.D.D. is the better half of the School, or vice versa. Likewise, the H.R.D.D. also cannot function alone. It is incomplete without the school. So we need to work hand-in-glove and coordinate our actions and thoughts too.

We must all work together on an impending issue which needs our immediate attention. Yes, we are talking about the Drop-out Rate of students in our state. We are aware of the facts and myths behind these figures. All of us present here today, are responsible in one way or the other. Instead of playing the “BLAME GAME”, we should concentrate on reducing these figures. We need to prepare our strategies to curb this menace.

Therefore, let’s all join hands in making an illuminated and well educated Sikkim, because

EDUCATION IS A SOCIAL PROCESS.

EDUCATION IS GROWTH.

EDUCATION IS, NOT A PREPARATION FOR LIFE;

EDUCATION IS LIFE ITSELF.

INDIA: Outrage at call to remove Andaman tribe’s children

An Indian MP's call for the children of a recently-contacted Andaman Island tribe to be removed from their parents and sent to residential schools has sparked worldwide outrage.

Indigenous people around the world have reacted furiously to the move, which echoes the much-criticised policy of the 'Stolen Generation' in Australia, and similar policies in North America.

Michael Cachagee, Executive Director of the National Residential School Survivors’ Society (NRSSS) in Canada, said, ‘The NRSSS cannot comprehend or fathom that any nation in today’s world would consider interning any of their citizens, especially children, in a ‘residential school’, given the horrific history associated with these types of schools in Canada and other parts of the world.’

From Brazil, Yanomami leader Davi Kopenawa Yanomami said, ‘This plan is very bad. The forest is the Jarawa’s home. They are in their own land. They have their own traditions and their own culture. If the government takes their children away and puts them in a school, they will lose their culture. If they are made to leave and live in a town, in a school, it would be a crime.’

MP (Member of Parliament) Bishnu Pada Ray wants to ‘wean’ Jarawa children away from the tribe in order to ‘drastically mainstream’ them.

He will propose to India’s Island Development Authority in July that ‘quick and drastic steps be taken to bring the Jarawa up to the basic mainstream characteristics’. He describes the Jarawa as being ‘in a primitive stage of development’ and ‘stuck in time somewhere between the stone and iron age’.

Similar schemes in the US, Canada and Australia are now acknowledged to have been disastrous, and to have left hundreds of thousands of indigenous people traumatized.

Mr Ray is also demanding that restrictions on developments in the Jarawa reserve be lifted, so that a highway running through the reserve can be upgraded, and a railway built. India’s Supreme Court ordered in 2002 that the existing Andaman Trunk Road must be closed to protect the Jarawa, but it remains open.

Survival’s director Stephen Corry said today, ‘These scandalous proposals are contemptuous both of indigenous peoples’ rights and the UN’s standards for their protection. Attempts to force the Jarawa to abandon their way of life will simply destroy them.’

New Delhi, Aug 9 – Environment and Forests Minister Jairam Ramesh Monday objected to calling the native tribals of Andaman and Nicobar ‘primitive tribes’ even as their decreasing numbers continue to be a major concern.

‘We must stop using the term primitive, use the term original inhabitants,’ Ramesh said while replying to supplementaries in the Rajya Sabha.

Great Andamanese, Onges, Jarawas, Sentinelese and Shompens are the identified tribes from the islands.

‘They are away from the mainstream. They are original Negroids who migrated from Africa, how the local administration saves them is a challenge,’ Ramesh said.

Education loan subsidy scheme finalised

New Delhi, June 24 : To make education loans cheaper, a scheme was finalised Thursday to provide full interest subsidy on the loans taken by students with annual family income below Rs.4.5 lakh to pursue technical and professional courses.The format for the scheme was finalised after a meeting between the Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry and the Indian Banks' Association (IBA).
"The scheme provides interest subvention to students for the period of their course. The interest for this period will be paid to the banks by the government," a ministry official said. The Canara Bank was finalised as the nodal bank for IBA member banks to claim the subsidy amount reimbursement. The scheme, which was approved by the cabinet last year, provides interest subvention to students with annual family income below Rs.4.5 lakh for the period till there course finishes. It will provide interest subvention from the academic year 2009-10. Read more....

A press release issued by the Administration said, “It has been brought to the notice of the A&N Administration that some of the Tour Operators are promoting tours to the A&N Islands with the inclusion of sightings of, or encounters with, the Jarawa Tribe. These Tour Operators are also reported to have placed contents on the Internet including visits to the Jarawa”.

As a warning to the tour operators the Andaman Administration clarified that the tribal areas of the islands come under the A&N Island (Protection of Aboriginal Tribes) Regulations 1956. The Jarawas are one of the primitive tribes of A&N Islands and are not to be promoted as “Tourist Attraction” under any circumstances. The A&N Administration, as in the past, has restricted entry to these areas and does not allow people to visit these areas for tourism purposes.

All the tour operators are therefore cautioned not to conduct such type of tours otherwise it would attract penal action as per law. They are further advised to revise their tour related contents on the Internet, if any, omitting any sort of reference to the Jarawa Tribe forthwith, failing which they would be liable for strict action by the law enforcing authorities.

Monkeys on the road between Siliguri and Sikkim are a common sight.Some of them lost their legs,tails and fingers as they evolved to survive with the humans on wheels who left a impact on their taste buds and ear.

The Jarawa tribes of Andaman Islands are objects of curiosity for the tourist,This tribe who came into open human contact only fifteen years ago is causing a great dilemma,whether to bring them closer or to keep them isolated .The only solution is to keep them as they are and improve their living conditions and work towards stabilizing their population without affecting their habitat.

Now they reach the roads whenever a convoy passes through their land, expecting eatables from the vehicles.These real humans-Worlds bravest survivors , who don't know about money,education,religion,nations ,politics , Bollywood,cricket etc. will one day loose all their values and enter into our social,economical,moral and cultural values or eccentricities and will become the citizen of India.

Illegal immigrants, Encroachments ,Andaman Trunk Road,Sand exploitation,Quarries,Tribal issues , Corruption , Alcoholism,Price Regulation,Wastage dumping by foreign countries in the Andaman Sea and Water Scarcity are some major issues concerning the Islands.

It happened to the Tower of Babel,when people started building a tower to the heavens God become angry and destroyed the tower by lightning..not only that,the people started speaking different languages causing confusion ..they left the place and spread across the earth. Now we know the reason for many dialects on earth.It may sound funny to you and me !! but you cannot undermine the truth. The folklores of Lepcha's (Sikkim) and the Tower to heaven,folktales around the world,even the Tribes of Andaman Islands have a similar story of God,flood and language- Their beliefs hold that even before the death of the first man,

... his offspring became so numerous that their home could no longer accommodate them. At Pūluga's(GOD) bidding they were furnished with all necessary weapons, implements, and fire, and then scattered in pairs all over the country. When this exodus occurred Puluga- provided each party with a distinct dialect.

If God divided us through communication barriers(the first divide and rule policy after creating the man and woman !) against building towers by punishing with confusing dialects ,then what will happen if we all communicate in English and use Internet..uniting once again,completing the Circle ?Now rethink about the English medium schools in all corners of the world,even the Chinese are in a hurry to make their kids learn the Queen's language.

GOD cursed Adam and Eve for not abiding by his rules in the Eden by saying "By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return."Now most of us who use the Internet don't sweat and managed to escape this curse ,scientists working hard in their labs(no sweats)to make humans immortal.

We are alive and kicking the Doomsday predictions of the past .The Sensational News Channels around the world created an impressive prelude( knowingly/unknowingly) to promote the movie 2012 before its release.Sony won,virtually we lost the world and survived to see the 2012- movie ,making Mahesh Bhatt fuming over the lose of Tum Mile !

They build Burjes and towers to show the world that they(others already sweated it out building the structures..) can use the speedy lifts to reach the 158th floor and sweat out to burn calories in the advanced AC gims.. escaping the curse,because God created us in his own image,but the brain of God is distributed among us!! and some who lack the stuff in theirs ..buy a part of it!

The economic case for creating small states

Should India be broken up into smaller states? After the decision to give statehood to Telangana, many analysts want a new States Reorganization Commission.

India today has 28 states. Assuming 20% population growth since the last census, Uttar Pradesh has 198 million people, more than Brazil, Russia or Pakistan. Maharashtra has 106 million, West Bengal 96 million and Andhra Pradesh 90 million. All are much bigger than France or Britain. At the other end of the scale, Sikkim has just 0.6 million people, Mizoram 1.1 million and Arunachal Pradesh 1.3 million. Clearly, statehood has been determined by political expediency, not logic.

Is there an economic case for carving smaller states out of large ones? Some analysts say small states won’t be economically viable. Others believe small states will fare better, since ordinary people will have better access to power elites. Consider the record of three states carved out of larger ones in 2000 - Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand. Ignore data for the first few transitional years. Instead, focus on the average growth rate of gross state domestic product for the last five years, from 2004-05 to 2008-09.

Amazingly, all three new states have grown fabulously fast. Uttarakhand has averaged 9.31% growth annually, Jharkhand 8.45%, and Chattisgarh 7.35%. All three states belong to what was historically called the BIMARU zone, a slough of despond where humans and economies stagnated. Out of this stagnant pool have now emerged highly dynamic states.

Some caveats are in order. The central government exempted industries in Uttarakhand from excise duty, a concession already applicable to other hill states such as Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and the north-eastern states. Many big industries rushed to Uttarakhand for the tax break, giving the state’s growth an artificial boost. Still, Uttarakhand easily outperformed Himachal Pradesh (8.47%) and Kashmir (5.98%). Remember, Uttarakhand was once considered the poorest, most backward part of UP. After statehood, it has become a growth champion.

Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh were the most backward parts of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, which in turn were among the most backward states of India. Yet, after becoming separate states, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh have emerged as industrial dynamos. Both have large tribal belts with pathetic infrastructure. In Chhattisgarh, four-fifths of habitations lack road access. Both states have ample minerals like coal and iron ore. But this was not an economic advantage when they were part of larger states. Rather, their mineral revenues were diverted to state capitals. This diversion ended after they became separate states.

Their rapid economic growth has been tainted by massive corruption. Sheer money power enabled an independent, Madhu Koda, to become chief minister of Jharkhand and rule for years. He handed out dozens of mining licences, instead of auctioning them to the highest bidder. Alas, this problem affects the whole of India: Natural resources from coal to the telecom spectrum are constantly gifted to favoured parties instead of being auctioned, and this enables politicians to amass fortunes. But just as the telecom revolution has been good for India despite corruption, so has private entry into mining and processing.

Jharkhand and Chattisgarh are not growing fast simply through mining. They have experienced a manufacturing boom. Read what research firm Indicus Analytica has to show:

"Since 2001, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh have moved up into the top 10 (industrial states), displacing Rajasthan and Punjab... The phenomenal growth in these two states has seen the share of manufacturing in their GDP rise dramatically as they have attracted industrial projects. Looking at the share of income that originates in the manufacturing sector, these two states have shown higher levels than Maharashtra, Haryana and Tamil Nadu...Being newer and smaller states, they responded more rapidly than their larger — and in some cases better endowed - neighbours… Raipur in Chhattisgarh has now entered the top 10 districts of India in manufacturing, with two industrial estates at Urla and Siltara".

Now, millions of tribals have been bypassed, especially in remote areas where Maoism flourishes. However, the biggest tribal agitations against giant mining projects are in Orissa. The big Jharkhand projects of Tata and Mittal are in limbo since the state has stalled land acquisition.

The neglect of tribals and consequent rise of Maoism is a blot on the record of Jharkhand and Chattisgarh. The creation of the vigilante Salwa Judum to counter Maoists in Chattisgarh has widely been condemned for violating civil rights.

The two states account for 68% of all Maoist attacks. That’s bad for civil rights and security. Yet, achieving fast growth amidst such insurgency is a major economic feat. It highlights the dynamism created when backward regions become separate states. Hopefully, this economic dynamism will help mitigate the backwardness on which Maoism thrives.

(simple, God made it like that!)let us try to understand...Coconuts are high quality design packages,containing water,the white coconut "meat",the shell,the husk and the finished outer layer.The buoyancy due to the husk carries the nut around the world through the ocean currents,hence you (also Darwin)find these trees in all the islands .People found the oil from the nut useful,the husk made into coir can be used to make mat ,ropes etc.We use to burn the shells to heat the age old iron boxes.My father taught me to make rings(for fingers)from the hard shells!

UN releases stamp on Mahatma Gandhi

United Nations, Oct 3 (PTI) Marking the International Day of Non-Violence, the United Nations has released a stamp of Mahathma Gandhi on the occasion of his 140th birth anniversary.

United Nations Postal Administration, the world body's postal agency, released the one-dollar stamp designed by a world famous Miami-based artist Ferdie Pacheco, with the Father of the Nation in red, blue and gold. Also the envelopes marked with the stamp and the United Nations' seal were on sale.

Several UN envoys, present at a function organised by the Indian Mission to celebrate his 140the birth anniversary, reiterated the influence of Mahathma Gandhi's life.

"In many ways, Mahatma Gandhi previsioned the UN. Much of the work that we do in the area of human rights owes its genesis in the struggle against racial discrimination, which he focused on," Hardeep Singh Puri India's ambassador to the UN said.

A tsunami triggered by a strong quake in the South Pacific has killed more than 100 people in several islands.

At least 77 people were reported dead in Samoa, more than 25 in American Samoa and at least six in Tonga.

Residents and tourists fled to higher ground as whole villages were destroyed. Boats were swept inland and cars and people out to sea.

The 8.3-magnitude quake struck at 1748 GMT on Tuesday, generating 15ft (4.5m) waves in some areas of the islands.

The Samoa islands comprise two separate entities - the nation of Samoa and American Samoa, a US territory. The total population is about 250,000.

A general tsunami warning was issued for the wider South Pacific region but was cancelled a few hours later.

The revelations came during the interrogation of two Nepali nationals caught by the Madhya Pradesh ATS, while trying to smuggle in the fake currency notes into India.

The two men named this man, a prominent minister's son Yunus Ansari as the conduit between King Gyanendra's son Paras and India’s most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim, who between them have been pushing crores of fake currency into India.

Reports suggest that Dawood looks at the printing and manufacture of the fake currency, while Paras is responsible for the transit of the money from other countries into Nepal and then it's flow into India.

Paras, the son of the former Nepal king, who has now taken refuge in Singapore, used his influence to ensure the money reached the transit points on the India-Nepal border without any hitch.

The late seventies brought all kind of household goods in plastic Now we can't live without it.Early morning brush to the mosquito repellant container ,it is there.It made our life easier.But when we were kids we never seen anything plastic.The pens ,spectacle frame,LP records were made of a different material called the shellac.We use to fish with the nylon lines.Everything was packed in containers of Tin or wood .Shirt buttons first appeared as plastic,then came the ballpoint pen.The containers we use to store were Horlicks bottles with tin lids,Brookbond Green Label coffee tins.

.We suffered a lot due to the saline humidity,everything made of tin and iron rusts fast near the sea,as we lived close to the sea.Painting the tin containers,the cycle ,the hinges etc.,was the only cure for rust,now you know the secret of my inclination towards colour.

Once in a year we use to paint the Trunk boxes and smoke design it .As plastic revolution took off,we saw a lot of plastic waste washed away by the sea on its shore..then came the recycling business,shore combers started scavenging for plastic waste which were sold for Rs.4 per Kilo.I even stumbled upon plastic bullets containing ammunition inside it with aluminium capsules,US army emergency food packets consisting peas,butter,paper matches,cigarette making stuff,coffee powder,sugar etc on a water proof black packet.The cold war was at its peak.Fifty cans of Foster beer ,we drank to the hilt..in those days, we can't think about it in India.

I used Reynold pens,gas lighters which reached us through the sea before we liberalised our economy.Coils of nylon ropes from the sea used to tie the cattles.The sea when roars during the monsoon brought toys for us "made in Hongkong" the militery fighters holding guns ,crawling with guns,monsters etc.We children started searching for toys on the shores.The sea brought surprises for us,sometimes a big dead sperm whale,small star fish or an abandoned Burmese Trawler,Buddha statue floating on a bamboo pantoon with lots of soiled Burma rice packets with Buddhist scriptures.

This friendly sea broke all its limits and my faith one day.....you know when it happened..the whole world knows it!!! THE TSUNAMI.

I survived it to tell this story about plastics !!!

Now let me tell you how i am listening to news and read the magazine.Two years ago it was different,I tuned my radio to listen to my favourite BBC service..the reception depended on the place where i am...with all the ionospheric disturbances and thanks to our own power supply system(which i once thought a rival to radio broadcast derrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr the noise didnot allowed me to listen even the local news.

Now thanks to(i don't know how long it will continue !!!) the internet.Now i can listen to my BBC without the lightning disturbing it on my laptop, connected to my home theatre system.The net radio is the ultimate thing for the listener,buffering may cause a little bit broken listening in dial up connection ,but the quality is superb.You need a good broadband connection to listen to the high quality 125kbs or more broadcasts.Now you can also broadcast via shoutcast.

In school, I read about the Australian Rabbit problem in a chapter in my English Syllabus(CBSE),today when I was surfing the channels on my Tv I noticed a movie called RABBIT PROOF FENCE,and I watched it ..A simple movie about the stolen generation, of which we often come across in news papers, a true story of three half -caste aboriginal kids who escape from the camp and reach their homes,a long journey followed by a tracker(aboriginal experts who track down any thing on the wilderness easily using all their five and the sixth sense).

(my five year old son was weeping like anything after watching this movie.)

.Here we see a lot of tribal girls who were kept as maid-servants , their masters should watch this movie to understand them better,because once i witnessed that a maid servant of this kind was beaten roughly on the road-with charges of stealing money ,and brought back to the masters home while fleeing.

A class VI student commits suicide,Class V students arrested for molesting a class mate..this kind of news in daily papers disturbs me. Where are we going?In this screenage of mobilephone,TV ,Balika Badhu,Kids Reality Tv shows ,movies and exposure to news channels which work hard to get the women audience by indulging into family affairs...doing family panchayat on the TV studios and beaming it into our homes, brings closure the private lives of people .The Television is a strong media and if not used carefully they will create negativity in the minds of kids who cannot think rationally. I may be wrong blaming only the TV.

Parents, school and peers play a vital role in shaping the children’s future. Now it is not a adolescence problem, it is small kids who get angry easily and expect more from others and dream of those role models from media.

We speak of quality time with the kids. Ask any parent they will say that they are spending a lot with their kids, but how ...with the mobile on and talking to friends and the TV going ,computer running..yes this QualiTV time is not what they want!

Now the children are more intelligent than what we were at their age. They are aware of anything and everything of it.The educational system is numerical and not geometrically designed,what I mean is,not according to ones ability and talent but in a standard set of subjects a child should pass.It is like pushing all kinds of shapes and sizes inside a fixed cylinderical shape.

Let us role- play like a kid for a day in our home..be creative and learn about them...be a child once in a month...There is a kid in everyone of us, let us bring it out and become playful with our kids.

Confidence game or trick is played by building trust.Human nature of greed,jealousy,expectations are projected by the con man to influence.

They will bombard,brainwash the people wo are willingly or unwillingly attracted towards their schemes.They will organise some programmes and present cheques /awards to the shills to show their credebility in public.

BUT they know..that they cannot influence a honest Man !

We often hear about Signature Frauds..then why dont we change this signature based faith ?Is their any alternative to this seal- signature dependence?

भारतीय कोस्ट गार्ड ने उत्तर कोरिया के एक संदिग्ध जहाज़ को पकड़ा है जो बिना इजाज़त भारतीय जल सीमा के अंदर अंडमान और निकोबार द्वीप समूह के पास रुका था.

पीटीआई के मुताबिक सेना और ख़ुफ़िया ब्यूरो के अधिकारी जहाज़ की जाँच कर रहे हैं और इनमें सफ़र कर रहे लोगों से पूछताछ की जा रही है.

ये कार्गो जहाज़ चीनी लेकर उत्तर कोरिया से मध्य पूर्व जा रहा था जब कोस्ट गार्ड ने इसे देखा.

एजेंसियों के अनुसार कोस्ट गार्ड के अधिकारियों ने बताया है कि बुधवार को ये जहाज़ हट बे द्वीप के पास बिना अनुमित के रुका और जब इसे संदेश भेजने की कोशिश की गई तो जवाब नहीं आया.

इसके बाद कोस्ट गार्ड ने जाँच करने के लिए अपना जहाज़ भेजा लेकिन उत्तर कोरिया का जहाज़ आगे बढ़ना लगा और तब भारतीय कोस्ट गार्ड को हवा में गोली चलानी पड़ी.

जहाज़ में उत्तर कोरिया के 39 लोग सवार थे. अंडमान और निकोबार ट्राइ कमांड के पीआरओ अधिकारी का कहना है कि मामले की छानबीन जारी है.

चिंता

उत्तर कोरिया के जहाज़ों को लेकर अकसर चिंता इसलिए जताई जाती है क्योंकि ऐसी आशंका रहती है उत्तर कोरिया मिसाइलें और परमाणु सामग्री ऐसे देशों को भेजता है जहाँ हालात स्थिर नहीं है.

इसी वजह से उत्तर कोरिया के जहाज़ो को अकसर रोका जाता है और जांच की जाती है.अपने परमाणु कार्यक्रम को लेकर उत्तर कोरिया और बाक़ी देशों के बीच बातचीत टूट चुकी है.

मई में उत्तर कोरिया ने कई मिसाइल परीक्षण किए थे और 25 मई को भूमिगत परमाणु परीक्षण भी किया था जिसके बाद उस पर संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने प्रतिबंध और कड़े कर दिए थे.

रॉयटर्स के मुताबिक 1992 और 2003 के बीच चार ऐसी घटनाएँ हो चुकी हैं जब उत्तर कोरिया के जहाज़ों को इस शक के कारण रोका गया था कि उनमें विनाशकारी हथियार बनाने के लिए कलपुर्ज़े भेजे जा रहे हैं. source:BBC

''I met Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee and she assured me of all possible steps in this regard discussing it with the Prime Minister and Finance Minister for clearance,'' Mr Ray told mediapersons here today.

''Earlier the matter was dropped saying the rail-link in the UT is not economically feasible but I have given an example of the rail-link between Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla, which is 292 km long, and was constructed without looking at the economic feasibility aspect. I have demanded to consider rail-link in Andaman on the same ground adding both the present road and sea links are time consuming,'' he added.

GANGTOK, July 24 (PIB): The Railways have set a target of December 2015 for the completion of Sevoke-Rangpo rail project for which plan outlay has been fixed at Rs 10 crore in 2009-10.
The final location survey contract has already been awarded.
In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State in the Ministry of Railways, E Ahamed informed about the sections that have been completed during the last five years in North East States. These are Samuktala-New Bongaigaon of New Jalpaiguri-New Bongaigaon Gauge Conversion (61 kms), Alipurduar-Bamanhat Gauge Conversion (80 kms), Manu-Agartala of Kumarghat-Agartala New Line (89 kms) and Senchoa-Silghat Gauge Conversion (62 kms).
In all, 16 projects fully/partly in North Eastern Region are in progress which includes New Maynaguri-Jogighopa, Sevoke-Rangpo. Gauge conversion is also on which includes New Jalpaiguri-Siliguri-New Bongaigaon.

The British first settled the convicts and officials on the coast of Aerial Bay in the 18thCentury (1789) as per the recommendations of Lt. Archibald Blair. The settlement was named after the then Governor General Lord Cornwallis. The settlement had to be abandoned subsequently in 1793 due to the unprecedented attack of Malaria which left majority of the settlers dead. After about 170 years a settlement of refugees from East Bengal was established at a place nearby and given the name of Diglipur.(source:Directore General of Light Houses and Light Ships)

Did you ever noticed ! ....when you learned a new word or something new then you always see the same word often or the related matter here and there which you learned the other day.Avid readers must have experienced it.If you are interested in visual/graphic kind of things then you will not disagree with me seeing images of people or portraits in clouds, walls/in places .Our mind can be set to a certain extend for what you want to learn or what you want to achieve.Our brains are programmable and it is similar to our modern day computers,because the computers are made to behave like our brains.

Some times the name of a person is in the tip of your tongue ,and not coming out! Then leave it for some time and engage yourself in some other work.The name will pop- up suddenly when you are not thinking about it.

I use Alphabetical Technique to bring out the names I forget.I start from A then B,C ,D....Insight shows me the name.If I can't then I leave it to my mind to bring it out!

ALIENS IN SIKKIM

We introduce new species into our environment whenever we comeback from other environs.Knowingly or unknowingly these new species accommodate itself into the new environ and if possible invade when no other enemy species counteracts against it.These two conspicuous plants made themselves felt in Sikkim.The Banmara is ubiquitous and it is not possible to remove it from here.Most of the plants which we see around us are Alien to this land ,some are invasive in nature.They spread their legs and lo... vini,vidi,vici!!!The Botanists Paradise is loosing to these Alien Invaders slowly.Man brought plants from other places for food production,crafts,ornamental use and out of curiosity.Some of them didn't harm other species of plants and co-exist,but few which are toxic(like the banmara) are invading in nature .They destroy green pastures leaving no place for the herbivorous.The Pistia(water lettuce) decreases the oxygen level in the ponds,which kill the fish.Now it is time to identify and take note of these "not so Eco-friendly" plants,so that something can be done to stop its spread in our ecology.There are so many other alien plants doing the harm to our local plants,here I only took two plants,let us identify one by one...the search will continue......!!

Import of Chinese mobile phones without unique identity code numbers has been banned, India's commerce ministry announced.

"Import of mobile handsets without International Mobile Equipment Identify (IMEI) number or with all-zero IMEI is prohibited with immediate effect," the Director General of Foreign Trade said in a notification.

IMEI - a unique 15-digit number - helps authorities trace the handset that has been used to make a call.

The Department of Telecom (DoT) had earlier directed telephone operators to disconnect services to subscribers who own handsets that do not have the IMEI code as such phones posed a security threat.

However, since then, the Cellular Operators Association of India has developed a software for embedding genuine identity code - issued by the global association of telecom operators - on handsets without the requisite IMEI numbers.
