NOKIA FAULTY BATTERIES

NOKIA FAULTY BATTERIES

Dear Nokia Customer,

This is a product advisory for the Nokia-branded BL-5C battery manufactured by Matsushita Battery Industrial Co. Ltd. of Japan between December 2005 and November 2006. This product advisory does not apply to any other Nokia battery.

Nokia has identified that in very rare cases the affected batteries could potentially experience over heating initiated by a short circuit while charging, causing the battery to dislodge. Nokia is working closely with relevant local authorities to investigate this situation.

Nokia has several suppliers for BL-5C batteries that have collectively produced more than 300 million BL-5C batteries. This advisory applies only to the 46 million batteries manufactured by Matsushita between December 2005 and November 2006. There have been approximately 100 incidents of over heating reported globally. No serious injuries or property damage have been reported.

Consumers with a BL-5C battery subject to this advisory should note that all of the approximately 100 incidents have occurred while charging the battery. According to Nokia's knowledge this issue does not affect any other use of the mobile device. Concerned consumers may want to monitor a mobile device while charging that contains a BL-5C battery subject to this product advisory.

While the occurrence in the BL-5C batteries produced by Matsushita in the time-period specified is very rare, for consumers wishing to do so, Nokia and Matsushita offer to replace any BL-5C battery subject to this product advisory.

The BL-5C batteries which are subject to the product advisory were used with the following Nokia models or separately as accessories:

ISKOOS(nepali)CHAYO(japanese)-CHAYOTE,MIRLITON,Christophine(english)-Sechium edule- is the botanical name, There are 11 varieties in and around Sikkim. Prajwal Tamang submitted a PhD paper on it.(ie. what I read on 5 th Nov.1999-NB plus of The Statesman )

Although most people are familiar only with the fruit, which in culinary terms is a , the root, stem, seeds, and leaves are all edible.

The fruit does not need to be peeled and can be eaten raw in salads. It can also be boiled, stuffed, mashed, baked, fried, or pickled. Both the fruit and the seed are rich in amino acids and vitamin C

The tuberous part of the root is starchy and is both eaten by humans and used as cattle fodder.

The leaves and fruit have diuretic, cardiovascular and anti-inflammatory properties, and a tea made from the leaves has been used in the treatment of arteriosclerosis and hypertension, and to dissolve kidney stones.

In Taiwan, chayotes are widely planted for its shoot, known as lóng xü cài ( Dragon-whisker vegetable). Along with the young leaves, the shoot is a commonly consumed vegetable in the region.

Powerful quake rocks Indonesia

Jakarta, Aug 09:

A powerful earthquake estimated 7.5 on the Richter scale rocked western Java Island of Indonesia early on Thursday, causing panic in capital Jakarta but there were no reports of casualties and no risk of tsunami. The quake struck at 12.04 am (1704 GMT Wednesday) with epicentre at 75 km northwest of Indramayu, West Java province, and at a depth of 286 km, an official of the Indonesian Meteorology and Geophysics Agency said.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said the quake could not generate a tsunami in the Indian Ocean, as it was located too deep inside the earth. Many people ran out of their houses in panic after the quake. "I am scared that the building could break down and hit us," said Ana, who lives in an apartment building in the Indonesian capital.

"I just had a phone call with my girlfriend in the United State when the earthquake happened," Rob Sheridan who lives in the Puri Imperium Apartment said. "The floor was wobbling. I was shocked and immediately ran to the open ground from the 29th floor."

Indonesia is located in the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, an extremely seismically active region where earthquakes and volcanic eruptions are common. Indonesia experienced two quake-triggered tsunamis in December 2004 off Sumatra Island, which killed hundreds of thousands of people in Aceh province.
